Image information

Description

The seed capsule of Conophytum wettsteinii are small, divided into five locules. One of the valves was open at the time of the photo. Note the accentuated dark leaf markings on the papery skins of the old leaves from the previous growth season, still partly in position over the new leaf discs. The green leaf-bodies are paired.

This plant used to be known botanically as C. brevipes (www.cactus-art.biz; Smith, et al, 1998).
