The flowers of Lachenalia trichophylla grow on a sturdy, dark purple stalk in a short raceme, usually bearing about 20 flowers.
The buds are initially pinkish purple, becoming white when they are ready to open, but pale yellow once they’re fully open. The outer tepals are shorter and have dull green bulging patches near their tips. The anthers do become exserted in this species (iSpot; JSTOR; www.pacificbulbsociety.org).
