Image information

Description

Differences between Pterygodium ingeanum leaves and the bracts higher up that subtend individual flowers are quite marked on this plant seen before the blooming stage.

The short, broad bracts are cream coloured with maroon margins. Their tips are pointed higher up in the inflorescence, curving variously on the mature bracts lower down.

The acutely tipped green leaves, folded along their midribs are much larger and very differently coloured. They don’t grade nearly as unidimensionally into the bracts as seen on some orchid species (Liltved and Johnson, 2012; iSpot).
