Salvia repens, the kruipsalie (Afrikaans) is a popular herb that grows from rhizomes spreading vigorously to produce a matted clump of stems. It grows about 40 cm tall.
The leaves are opposite and hairy with prominent veins on the lower surface.
The species distribution is widespread across South Africa, occurring in all provinces barring the Northern Cape.
The habitat is diverse in scrub, grassland and more. The species is not considered threatened in habitat early in the twenty first century.
