Description

The southern shores form of Polygala fruticosa or butterfly bush was carefully selected by Kirstenbosch horticulturists from coastal plants for experimental introduction as a garden plant. The result was the welcome arrival of this good flowering shrub in many South African gardens. Southern shores is a compact herb of about 1 m in height, with blue-green pointed leaves and abundant purple flowers (www.plantzafrica.com).
