This Lycium oxycarpum flower has a long tube widening gradually to the flower mouth that is surrounded by five short corolla lobes. Pale yellow and brown anthers are exserted erectly just beyond the mauve-purple lobes. The flower has a long thin stalk and a short green calyx. Some uneven dark lines are visible on the pale exterior of the corolla tube.
The minimal fleshiness of the bright green leaves can be observed. On close inspection leaf shape of this plant proves to be quite uneven (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Coates Palgrave, 2002).
