Image information

Description

The Pappea capensis or jacket plum upper branch depicted here is sparsely leaved, covered in ripe and ripening fruit. The fruit skin is furry green, splitting when ripe. Then the orange-red of the fleshy appendages on the shiny black seeds are displayed.

The leaves in picture are oblong to oblanceolate in shape, dull green to yellow-green, growing on long stalks. The grey bark on young stems may be hairy (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997).
