Some typical features of the growth habit of Dodonea angustifolia can be seen more clearly in this specimen than those already posted in this Album. The openly spaced branches covered in erect, narrow, fresh green leaves show up well.
One sees many shrubs of this species for every tree encountered. D. angustifolia subsp. viscosa is known as just a low shrub of up to 2 m tall. This specimen, growing in a kloof of the Rooiberg in the south of the Little Karoo, is D. angustifolia subsp. angustissima. It does become a small tree on occasion, found in the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Namaqualand (Coates Palgrave, 2002).
