The leaves of Apodytes dimidiata are ovate to elliptic. They are very glossy bright green on the upper surfaces. The lower surface is paler, sometimes slightly hairy with a pinkish hue around the base, close to the petiole. The leaf apex may be notched or tapering; the base being broad and tapering. The bark is pale grey, usually smooth and frequently covered in patches of colourful lichen.
The fruit of the white pear is a black nut with a kidney shaped fleshy appendix on one side. This fleshy part changes colour from green, to red and later black (Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997; Coates Palgrave, 2002).
