Description

Young growth is incongruous on old Salsola tuberculata branches that are ashy grey, rough and through the wars of many harsh seasons. Still, the woody parts faking dead in their arid karoid surroundings sprout lavish new growth after even a little rain.

Game and stock appreciate the efforts of the cauliflower ganna a bit too enthusiastically, as these plants take strain from over-browsing (Van Rooyen and Van Rooyen, 2019; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Vahrmeijer, 1981; JSTOR; iNaturalist).
