Image information

Description

The green fruit pods of Podalyria hirsuta in the photo are short and bulging; shaggy from an ample covering of soft hairs. The pod tips curve upwards with needle-like, persistent style remains visible. Podalyria seeds have fleshy collars.

The bright pink flowers with white centres that preceded these pods had grown from leaf axils. Pointed sepal tips can be seen, flexed away from the pods. The bracts on this species are oval (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; iSpot).
