Plumbago auriculata with white flower
Image 368 of 454
The leadworts belong to the Plumbaginaceae family and are dicots, i.e. the seeds have two embrionic leaves. When a plant becomes popular worldwide as a garden plant, the horticultural cultivars often exceed the natural plant in terms of attractiveness due to the manipulative selection by gardeners. Indigenous gardeners will decide for themselves whether to go for the natural or 'developed' versions (or both).
