Description

The closed flowerhead of Garuleum bipinnatum shows only the less seen outer surfaces of the ray florets, somewhat redder than their normally mauve-blue inner surfaces. The green involucre is broadly cup-shaped around the flowerhead, at least two rows of bracts visible. The narrow tips of the inner row of bracts are red-purple, curling outwards (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010).
