Image information

Description

Seen from an angle, the Ecbolium glabratum flower reveals the hairy outer surface of its slender corolla tube. The tube is cylindrical, long and curving, emerging from a leaf axil. Corolla size is 2 cm wide, the tube about 3 cm long.

There are two stamens arising from low inside the corolla tube, their bluish anthers exserted. There are also two infertile ones, i.e. staminodes that only have filaments, no anthers (Pooley, 1998; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iSpot).
