Protea obtusifolia is but one of the proteas that has a pink as well as a white flowering form. Between the creamy white and the deep carmine flowerhead colours, plants can be found representing the continuous range of intermediate shades.
In contrast to the situation concerning colour, flower and leaf shapes in P. obtusifolia are quite uniform (Rourke, 1980; Eliovson, 1983).
