The umbel-like, many-flowered cluster of Pelargonium carnosum buds point outwards on short pedicels. They are pointed and hairy, green near the tips and red at the base where a distinct knob is present immediately behind each bud.

The calyces are much greener than the visible leaf. The calyx becomes up to 1 cm long (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; iSpot).
