Description

The flower of Bartholina etheliae has a whitish base to its conspicuous lip and lateral petals. The thin filamentous segments spreading from the lobes of the lip may be coloured in various shades of maroon, blue, lilac or green.

At the top of this flower the yellowish green sepals with their rolled-in margins appear to be considerably larger than the thin, lateral petals. The petals are also erect, holding up their bulbous tips (Liltved and Johnson, 2012).
