Description

Rhinephyllum pillansii is a small leaf succulent growing short, thick angular leaves. The clump in picture displays a remarkably wide range of leaf colours. The plant may be quite a rare sighting in the veld, although it can spread to form a small mat.

The species occurs in a limited distribution in the southern Karoo of the Western Cape. Its habitat is fynbos and succulent Karoo. It is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
