Description

The flowers of Cephalophyllum loreum grow solitary or in groups of up to three on long pedicels from stem-tips. There are five, fleshy, acutely pointed but blunt-tipped sepals.

The lemon-yellow petals spread in two or three whorls around the flower centre where numerous, erect stamens spread their pale anthers. The inferior ovary has a crater-like rimmed top around a ring of nectar glands and feathery stigmas. The top of the ovary is depressed in its centre.

The seeds form on placentas in the floor of the fruit locules (Smith, et al, 1998; Herre, 1971; iNaturalist).
