Image information

Description

Amphibolia laevis may sometimes have these rows of dark dots on the leaf margins, like the smallest vestiges of teeth or stitching on furniture upholstery no longer in fashion. This plant was thought to be A. maritima, now no longer a separate species.

The curved-down petals appear to be in two whorls although hardly enough for one tightly spaced ring. The anthers clustered in the flower centre are white here, on a dome-shaped base and not yellow as seen in some flowers (Le Roux, et al, 2005; Smith, et al, 1998; iNaturalist).
