Description

The blue-violet upper petals of this Viola decumbens plant are striped white. They are obovate in shape with rounded tips that curve back.

The lateral pair of petals is similarly coloured but oblique in shape and more pointed. The small, fifth petal below is darker, not striped and acutely tipped, apart from the truncated extreme that may only be curved down.

V. decumbens also has five narrow, acutely pointed sepals, a couple of which are protruding on the flanks of the lowest petal (Mustart, et al, 1997; Manning, 2009).
