Description

Look out for Dilatris pillansii blooming from late winter to midsummer, often a season or two after a fire in the fynbos. The distribution of this plant lies from the Cederberg southwards to the Cape Peninsula and Bredasdorp.

In this photo flowering is over. The hairy, orange fruit has formed below the now greyish white withered tepals, dark coloured on their outer surfaces (Mustart, et al, 1997; Bean and Johns, 2005).
