Description

The leaves of Cleome macrophylla are trifoliolate on petioles of up to 6 cm. The three dark green leaflets are linear or narrowly lance-shaped, channelled and acutely pointed.

In the tropical part of the species distribution the leaflets are often broader than in the South African part. The leaves are sparsely hairy, particularly upon their margins (JSTOR; iNaturalist).
