Description

Bolandia pinnatifida, previously Brachyrhynchos diversifolius and Senecio petiolaris respectively in different eras, is a perennial reaching 10 cm to 40 cm in height.

The species distribution is in the west of the Western Cape, to the coast near Saldanha, the Cederberg and into the southwest of the Northern Cape to around the Kamiesberg. The photo was taken in the Biedouw Valley.

The habitat is renosterveld and fynbos on stony slopes, the plants sometimes growing protected among taller vegetation. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
