Image information

Description

Helichrysum odoratissimum var. odoratissimum is a rounded shrublet grows to about 50 cm in height. The plant is aromatic as the specific name indicates.

The leaves are variable, elliptic and less woolly on the upper surfaces than below. They taper at the base and are rounded at the apex. The stems are also hairy.

The inflorescence comprises a dense, flat-topped cluster of compact yellow flowerheads in a corymb structure. The flowerheads have only disc florets, no rays. The involucre is yellow and about as long as the florets (Van Wyk and Gericke, 2007; www.sntc.org.sz; www.zimbabweflora.co.zw).
