Helichrysum aureonitens is an erect perennial of the summer rainfall grassland in the eastern parts of southern Africa. This one was photographed in December in the Magaliesberg.
The leaves are oblong and grey with woolly hairs. The leaf size decreases higher up on the slender, erect stems nearer the capitula, the flowerheads.
These yellow flowerheads grow in dense flat-topped clusters or corymbs at the stem tips (Germishuizen and Fabian, 1982; www.plantzafrica.com).
