Image information

Description

Patches of red winter flowers of Lachenalia bulbifera appear among the rocks where the scrub hasn’t grown too tall for them to show their colours. They are gregarious, several flowering stems emerging close together simultaneously. Among them some of the pointed, fleshy leaves of younger plants may often be recognised, not flowering yet, growing from small bulbs preparing for next season.
