Image information

Description

Flower stalks of Melinis nerviglumis remain bare and wiry once the flowers are dispersed by the wind. The fluffy fruits are light, responding well in this widely distributed species.

Birds eat these fruits (Van Oudtshoorn, et al, 1991; iNaturalist; Wikipedia; www.zimbabweflora.co.zw; http://pza.sanbi.org).
