Description

Insects are always welcome! For pollination that is, not for eating flowers. That happens but less often.

The little pollen distribution ritual takes place millions of times a day. It remains one of the everyday miracles that sustain life. The chances of this Senecio junceus flowerhead producing viable seed take a turn for the better from the event.

Every plant part like a flowerhead or even a single floret, works tirelessly during its often brief existence to be counted among the fulfilled ones, those delivering successfully in accordance with the unwritten plan of the species.

Would that people execute plans as diligently as making them (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984).
