Image information

Description

This Moraea neglecta flower has deeper yellow colouring than flowers posted earlier. The areas where parallel dotted lines on the outer tepals indicate the nectar guides are not differently (deeper) coloured than the outer lobe parts as in the other flowers shown. The erect style branches are conspicuous, partly obscuring the view of the inner tepals that are oblong with rounded tips.

Next to the flower some red fruit, narrow and thin, are visible; some way down the seed production road. The green ovary below the flower is similarly shaped to these fruits.

The blackish protrusion on the other side of the flower is the leaf-like spathe commonly growing next to the flower (Manning, 2007; www.fernkloof.com).
