Description

These yellow-brown, dry flowerhead remains of Pteronia fasciculata have grown in a cluster on a stem-tip. Each flowerhead tops its own short branch. The seeds seem to begin escaping from the grasp that ensured their ripening in their involucre; ready for dispersal.

This tough shrub often succeeds in multiplying on land where many other species find the going hard.
