Image information

Description

The pink flower variety of Plectranthus ecklonii is not as common as the blue one. There are also white, mauve and purplish varieties. This is an erect perennial shrub that grows fast to heights of around 3 m in favourable conditions, taller than most other Plectranthus species.

P. ecklonii is a favourite garden subject, ideal for shady spots. The plant grows fast, is easy to grow from cuttings and is drought resistant but does not like frost. It features in traditional medicine (www.igarden.com.au).
