Image information

Description

The soft and hairy Lobelia cuneifolia var. cuneifolia stem-tip in picture has alternate, stalked flowers above narrow bracts. Their is a jaunty zigzag in the stem.

The five long, acutely pointed calyx lobes start off green, clutching the bud. Later they become purple and spread from the fading corolla.

Buds show whitish outer corolla surfaces, the open flowers here blue, their inside surfaces visible. The faded flowers are white, again on the outer surfaces that are visible (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
