The cream coloured midrib and ascending, incurving lateral veins of Hermannia salviifolia var. salviifolia are prominent on the lower surfaces of the leaves. The veins, including the net-veining, are translucent against the light.
Both leaf surfaces are hairy and coarse. Leaf colouring is here yellow-green to dark green. The leaf folds in slightly along its midrib, tapering at its base. It also tapers or is rounded to notched at the tip (Bean and Johns, 2005; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
