Geissorhiza erosa, in Afrikaans known as the witsyblom (white silk flower), is an endangered geophyte occurring from Tulbagh and Stellenbosch in the west to Botrivier in the east.
Sword-shaped leaves and a flower stem grow annually from the perennial corm that has a woody coat. The plant reaches heights of 12 cm to 35 cm, flowering at the end of winter to the middle of spring. The plants are found on clay slopes and flats (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iSpot; www.redlist.sanbi.org).
