Description

The fragrant Freesia leichtlinii subsp. alba flowers grow in one-sided spikes branched into panicles.

The flower tube is funnel-shaped, its six round-tipped tepals spreading from the corolla mouth. The tepals are white, the lowest one here marked deep yellow down its centre. The outside surface of the corolla may be suffused dull purple.

The six white stamens arch over the flower centre in a coherent group. The style among them ends in a three-branched stigma, its branches forked. Flowering happens from midwinter to mid-spring (Manning, 2009; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iSpot).
