Drosanthemum giffenii, commonly known as Giffen’s dewfig or in Afrikaans the doublaarvygie (dew leaf mesemb), is a sprawling shrublet, endemic to the Little Karoo.
It is often low-growing, although it may achieve heights around 80 cm. The creeping stems may root at the nodes.
The plant, growing in loamy soils, is often browsed; large stands indicate well-managed veld. The species is threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; iSpot; www.redlist.sanbi.org).
