Description

This Berkheya coriacea plant, flowering in the De Hoop Nature Reserve during September, seems to be content with spreading over the limestone in a creeping fashion and not making much effort to produce erect branches. The new growth, short with white stems and white woolly leaves, does stand erect, however. There may be an imminent turning point to any new resolve though, as the strong winds that buffet exposed coastal plants here, may again have a say. Still, this plant does grow to 60 cm in some conditions (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iSpot).
