Description

These leaves are thought to belong to Ledebouria ovatifolia. It was photographed near Roossenekal.

The ledebourias, part of the Hyacinthaceae family, are geophytic or bulbous perennial herbs. They are deciduous, new leaves growing annually in spring. The leaves emerge from the bulbous base and often have coloured spots or other characteristic markings. The flowers are often pink, white or purple.
