The orange-red Aloe petricola buds at the top of the raceme turn creamy yellow or ivory before they open. Once they do, the stamens are exserted, the thread-like to flattened filaments of the inner three stamens emerging first, the outer three later. The exserted filament part may be 1 cm long, deep brown in colour (Van Wyk and Smith, 2003; Reynolds, 1974; Jeppe, 1969; iNaturalist).
