The crowded buds on this Aloe claviflora raceme are interspersed with acutely pointed green bracts, each attached to the stem at the base of a bud pedicel. Below the flowers on the sturdy green peduncle a few more papery bracts are scattered, sterile as they are without flowers to subtend.
The raceme is cylindrical, tapering towards its tip. Mostly one, sometimes two single-raceme inflorescences are produced per rosette, although some branched panicles do occur, rarely bearing up to four racemes. Raceme lengths up to 50 cm may occur (Reynolds, 1974; Jeppe, 1969).
