The witmagriet as this daisy is commonly known grows in the Western Cape and parts of the Northern Cape. Dimorphotheca nudicaulis has a woody base from which annual stems grow in the rainy season. Tufts of narrowly lanceolate toothed leaves grow at the base.
The radiate flowers grow on long, sparsely leaved peduncles. The discs are purple in the centre. It flowers at the end of winter and in spring (Manning, 2009).
