Stachys dregeana is a perennial herb of the Drakensberg area that grows to 40 cm tall. It has thick, oblong leaves without stalks and upturned sides with uneven edges. The hairs on the lower surface of the leaf are denser than on the top. The flowers are pink, mauve or purple. The plant is variable and occurs in the Eastern Free State, Kwazulu-Natal and Eastern Cape sides of the Drakensberg. Its survival is not currently considered to be threatened (JSTOR; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
