Hibiscus engleri is an erect shrublet of the northern parts of South Africa and Swaziland. The stems are slender with a coppery colour. There are star-shaped bristles on the stems.
Leaves are three-lobed and oblong. They are irregularly toothed.
The flowers are axillary, yellow, pink or mauve with purplish centres. Blooming happens from midsummer to autumn (Germishuizen and Fabian, 1982).
