The compact, globular, yellow flowerheads of Cotula microglossa are shaped like slightly flattened spheres. Belonging to the Asteraceae family, the flowerhead that becomes nearly 1 cm in diameter comprises numerous tiny, four-lobed, disc florets, lacking ray florets. Flowerheads are borne solitary on long peduncles, up to 10 cm in length.
The plant flowers in spring (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; iSpot).
