The erect, red-stemmed branches thrive; this Erepsia inclaudens plant does well from its sandstone crevice. Flowering is proceeding normally in November, while the red-tipped leaves would have looked about the same on a plant growing in ample soil.
On the one hand the chances of surviving a fire are enhanced by the good fortune of operating from such a perch, although on the other some food shortages and exposure may be experienced.
