These clusters of brightly coloured Edmondia pinifolia flowerheads are not easily missed among the green of the fynbos when the veld is still young after the last fire.
The species distribution ranges from the Cape Peninsula eastwards through the Kogelberg to Caledon and northwards to the Cederberg. The habitat of E. pinifolia is rocky fynbos slopes, often seasonally damp sandstone and mostly the upper elevations (Manning, 2007; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984).
